‘The Belgian and his brick’ is a commonly well-known saying, but do you know how a brick is made?
A guided visit to the Wienerberger brickworks in Zonnebeke will tell you all about it. You will walk through the company’s various production departments and the guide will happily tell you how they turn clay into a full-fledged brick. The brickyard is active during the visit.
Wienerberger Belgium is part of the international Wienerberger group that was founded in Vienna in 1819. The group has since grown into one of the largest brick producers in the world, with a strong position in the production of other ceramic building products, such as clay roof tiles, clay clinkers and interior wall bricks. In Zonnebeke, the factory specialises in making quick-build bricks.
