In 2021, family Vandorpe (Le Plat Pays) planted its first grapevines as a continuation of the short supply chain story of the picking garden and Santfort Beef.
The vineyard was born out of a combination of the love of agriculture and gastronomy. In collaboration with experts, the family planted different vines on six plots (Wervik and Zandvoorde) depending on the soil structure. Besides soil structure, slope, sun and wind were also taken into account. This ensures good ventilation and a healthy vineyard.
The different plots create a broad spectrum of flavours. Different grape varieties were planted: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier and Aligotée. These grape varieties will give us delicious wines from 2024 and we will be able to enjoy a glass of bubbles from 2025.
