Wormwood

Wormwood buds have traditionally been attributed medicinal properties. The plant occurs on dry, calcareous, nitrogen-rich soils and is currently listed as quite rare.

The plant is used for digestive disorders such as loss of appetite, indigestion, antispasmodic and liver disease. It is used to stimulate sweating against fever and muscle pain. It also has a positive effect on depression and memory loss.

The decoction of the buds is also an important ingredient in the drinks vermouth and absinthe.
